A few weeks ago we went to the BFI at Southbank to watch a special screening
of The Boy Friend (1971) by Ken Russell.
Twiggy (star of The Boy Friend) was there too,
giving an introduction to the film and paying tribute to the recently deceased director. She was so beautiful and down to earth in person!
If you have a chance do watch this film, you won't be disappointed!
The plot of this extravagant pastiche is simple:
a shy assistant stage manager of a small theatrical company
is forced to take the place of the injured leading actress.
She falls in love and eventually wins the heart of her male co-star.
What make this film stand out are the excellent performance of Twiggy,
the choreographies both dreamy and hilarious and the amazing costumes.

Un paio di settimane fa siamo andate al British Film Insitute a Southbank
per assistere a una proiezione speciale del film The Boy Friend (1971)
diretto da Ken Russell.
Twiggy (la star di The Boy Friend) era presente alla serata,
per introdurre il film e omaggiare il regista recentemente scomparso.
Era veramente bellissima, ma semplice e modesta di persona!
Se ne avete possibilità, vi consigliamo vivamente di vedere il film, non vi deluderà!
La trama di questo stravagante pastiche è semplice:
a causa di un incidente, l'attrice principale di un piccola compagnia teatrale
è costretta a lasciare il suo ruolo a una timida assistente.
Questa di innamorerà del protagonista maschile e riuscirà infine a conquistarne il cuore.
Diverse qualità rendono questo film unico: l'eccellente performance di Twiggy,
le coreografie (seducenti e comiche al tempo stesso), e i fantastici costumi.
