About: Sun, music, a bunch of happy people and coluds of vivid rainbow colours. It's the Holi festival!
Traditionally observed in India and Nepal, the Holi (होली) festival celebrates the beginning of spring and the victory of good over bad.
This summer (on August 10th and 11th), over 10.000 people dressed in white gathered just outside Battersea Power Station in London to fill the air with colour and noise.
The people behind the event stress how the festival intends to promote equality and tolerance and to bring people together in peace and harmony, nullifying all differences with the power of colour.
Facts and tips:
- You can easily find your way to the festival by following the white-dressed crowd. They fill up the town!
- If you plan to delve into the crowd it's better to wear diving masks, swimming goggles, and a mask over mouth and nose. Otherwise it's pretty hard to keep your eyes open or even breathe!
- There's a countdown for throwing your powder in the air every full hour, and DJs and bars to keep you entertained in the meanwhile ;)
- We didn't get bags of powder with our press passes, but they're purchasable on site for 2£ each.

Secondo la tradizione, in India e in Nepal il Holi (होली) celebra l'inizio della primavera e il trionfo del bene sul male.
Quest'estate, nelle date dell'10 e dell'11 di agosto, più di 10.000 persone vestite di bianco si sono riunite vicino alla Battersea Power Station di Londra,
pronte a riempire l'aria di colori e rumore.
Gli organizzatori dell'evento sottolineano l'obbiettivo del festival:
promuovere uguaglianza e tolleranza e unire le persone in pace e armonia,
eliminando ogni differenza grazie al potere del colore.
Suggerimenti e informazioni:
- E' facile raggiungere la location del festival. Basta seguire la folla vestita di bianco, che riempe tutta la città!
- Se avete intenzione di immergevi nel fulcro dell'azione, è meglio indossare maschera da sub o occhialini da piscina, e una mascherina su bocca e naso. Altrimenti, tenere gli occhi aperti o anche solo respirare... potrebbe diventare un problema!
- C'è un countdown per lanciare le polveri colorate allo scoccare di ogni ora.

- Il nostro press pass non comprendeva bustine di polvere colorata, che sono acquistabili insieme al biglietto o sul posto, per 2 pound l'una.
