London Events: The Shoreditch Fashion Show October 2013

London's cultural scene has so much to offer and we feel so lucky being able to experience it everyday!
This time we'd like to talk about The Shoreditch Fashion Show, already mentioned here, an exciting event that took place last Saturday at the Oval space in Bethnal Green.
Unlike most of the events we usually attend, TSFS was not exclusive to the press, VIPs and the usual fashion crowd but also open to the public (tickets were £20), which means hundreds of fashion and arts students, and simply stylish people showed up, making the event, not only a big success, but also a great fun!

With over 350 applications from emerging artists all around Europe, five (Aphra Shezma, Sunyin Xiaowen, Linda Cieniawskwa, Charlotte Osborne and Gwenyth Fugard) were selected to exhibit their work during the night.
The live music acts were no less brilliant, with XFM New Music Award finalists (alongside The XX and Florence + the Machine) Kill it Kid, Wireless festival headliner Rufio Summers, folky and romantic Lydia Baylis and UK urban scene star Vince Kidd performing as the models walked the runway.

Isabell Yalda Hellysaz, London College of Fashion 2012 graduate, celebrated by INDIE magazine and Lady Gaga, presented an all-white collection with a futuristic feel and inspired by global issues.

Nicolas Wirth, from Istituto Marangoni, used digital prints with natural imagery to portray the subconscious mind of a troubled individual.

Marcelo Yarussi, founder of the avant-grade label Bastardo BA, created daring and dramatic pieces that maintained, at the same time, extreme wearability.

Christina Tiran and Victoria Rowley, recent London College of Fashion graduates, showcased dreamy lightweight flowy gowns with experimental illustrations.

London College of Fashion graduate Maria Zhiminko's all-black designs play with structures and shapes with a graphic edge, hinting at a dark dystopian future.

The work of Rebecca Morter and Gemma Vanson, both London College of Fashion graduates, finally, celebrates the body, revealing and concealing it.

Another highlight of the event were the beautiful illustrations by Dom&Ink, which were hanging on the wall for people to colour and the Batiste Dry Shampoo hair stylist who gave guests hairdos worthy of the catwalk!
